One of the multiple diseases that can be caused by the malfunction of lysosomes is Tay Sachs disease. Tay Sachs can be caused by mutations in the gene HEXA which gives information to produce the enzyme beta-hexosaminidase A located in the lysosome. The lysosomes then break down the fatty substance GM2 ganglioside. The mutations in the HEXA gene cause the disruption of beta-hexosaminidase which prevent the lysosomes from breaking down the GM2 ganglioside. The GM2 ganglioside is allowed to grow to toxic levels which can cause serious damage to the brain and the spinal cord.
Lysosomes are not a good choice for chief organelle, because their malfunctions can cause at least 50 different diseases. We should not allow an organelle that can cause the destruction of the entire cell be the chief. Lysosomes contain hydrolase enzymes that can break down the cell itself if it were to burst. This is why we should not vote for lysosomes. Lysosomes are dangerous organelles and should not be allowed to get power.
